Garage Door Measuring Guide

Measure the clear garage door opening—the area the closed door fills—not the surrounding frame, trim, wall, or header.

How to measure

  1. Width: Measure horizontally from the inside left edge of the opening to the inside right edge.
  2. Height: Measure vertically from the floor or threshold to the underside of the top opening.

Record width first, followed by height: W × H. Measure each opening separately when you have two single garage doors, and never include the center column.

If a preset does not match both dimensions, choose Custom Size and enter the exact measurements in inches. Do not add extra allowance.
